The Price of Fame.

Model, horse rider, author and now entrepreneur...mum-of-5 (nearly), Katie Price, has decided to start up her own line of sex toys. The former glamour model, who is expecting baby number 5 any day now, has spoken out about her new line and informed fans that it will be launched later this year, saying "it's time sex toys go mainstream". Price often talks openly about sex, including her own sex life ,past and present, on a weekly radio show. Since her first modelling job in 1996 Katie, previously known as Jordan, has been stunning, shocking and surprising the public with outrageous and daring antics, forcing herself to stand out from the crowd. However, as time goes on, the desperation to be noticed and to stand out is becoming apparent.

The above picture is the perfect example of the 'Price' of fame. As cosmetic surgery becomes a more popular option for a larger amount of people, this no longer stands as Katie's 'selling point'.The above image captures perfectly Katie's desperate, and somewhat pathetic, attempts to stand out... Yes Katie, we noticed you- for all the wrong reasons! The barbie pink trout pout, the synthetic, rainbow streaked wig or the fatuous 'crown' of flyers perched on her head- which did you notice first? At the age of 36, and with her fifth child on the way, you would think that Katie felt it was time to settle down and focus on being a family orientated woman, paying less attention to keeping the small spark of her career alive and more on her children. 

But this is not uncommon in the world of celebrities. Many desperate attempts are made to keep careers alive. Look at Kerry Katona, becoming the face of Iceland of all places, or members of Busted linking up with Mcfly to try and continue with a successful music career, sponging off McFlys fanbase and benefits. However, I think the winner of the most frequent, most deplorable attempts to stay in touch with the world of fame is Katie Price. Trying and failing to be an author for children, writing autobiography after autobiography (seriously, how many chapters of your life can there be?!), starting a line in equestrian clothing (because Katie Price is exactly who all serious horse riders would want to buy from...) hair dye and extensions, demonstrated in the beautiful synthetic wig shown above and now sex toys. I think its high time Katie gave up and settled down, becoming a bit more of a respectable role model for her children...and maybe, just maybe, she should wait until she can actually do something successfully to gain publicity rather than trying too hard and embarrassing herself...and probably her family too.
