Books VS. Films

Image
Nowadays, most books are turned into films. However, they don't always manage to get it quite right- sometimes the films are truly awful, sometimes they're brilliant and more often than not they miss out major details from the stories we already knew and loved. So which book-to-film's have been great and which have truly sucked? Lord of the Rings A truly epic series of films, I have to confess that I haven't read the books but I have it on authority that the books are better than the films- although the films really are incredible and stay pretty true to the books, even if it does take 1,000 years to watch them all! Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging So, so  disappointing! I adored the Georgia Nicholson books, but when they combined the first two into one film, but taking details from all  the books and mixing things up and getting things wrong, I just couldn't stand it. I like the film, it makes me laugh, but there are so many inaccuracies. ...

Goodbye, Dearest Holly

The whole world felt this case, in a similar way to the way the world feels the disappearance of Maddie McCann, and it's one that has never left people's minds. ...

World Book Day!

Image
Today is World Book Day! Don't you miss going to school and dressing up as your favourite book characters, spending the whole day talking about books and doing book based activities? I certainly do! I couldn't believe it when my youngest sibling, the only one still at school, said that she didn't want to dress up because she didn't care. Okay, so she may be thirteen but still . How could you not care?  For me, World Book Day was always important. You got to express your love of books without being called a nerd and were given that special little voucher, which meant that you could treat yourself to a new book! I loved it, but that's probably because I loved reading and writing almost as much as I loved food, if not more.  I can't remember a time when I couldn't read. I remember reading the basic Biff and Chip magic key books at the age of about four, but I don't remember struggling through them. I just remember reading, the thrill of movin...
