To Anne-Marie

To Anne-Marie, I will never forget the day I discovered you and your music. Scrolling through my Facebook feed, SB.TV shared your 'Boy' song on their page. I gave it a listen and fell in love instantly- not just with the song and with your voice, but you and your style. You were rocking a look so similar to the one I desired to achieve myself but was often mocked for. I particularly loved your big hoop earrings, an item I am almost never without myself! After watching the video I remember tweeting you and being over the moon when you responded! And I've been following your journey since then, listening to your songs, engaging with you online and seeing you perform too. I saw you at Wireless, in the very front row, and introduced my best friend Alex to you- she's now almost as big of a fan as I am! Then this week, on Monday, we saw you perform at the Koko Club in Camden and you blew our minds all over again. I wanted to write this post for you- to you- because y...

Free Kesha

Image
If you don't have social media, you won't have been exposed to the outrage that erupted across all platforms regarding yesterday's court case result in regards to the situation between Kesha, Sony and her producer, Dr Luke.  To cut a long story short for you all, the scenario is this. Kesha had inexplicably gone from producing hit after hit to making absolutely no music for two years. Fans questioned why, and when she came out with an answer it was down to the fact that her producer, Dr Luke, had drugged her and raped her. Of course, Sony and Dr Luke denied this allegation and it has been taken to court. Yesterday, the judge gave the verdict that Kesha could not leave her contract with Sony and must continue to make a further six  albums with Dr Luke, her rapist. If she uses another producer, Sony will refuse to promote her- effectively, ending her career.  It's horrific, right? Now, some people have said "What about him? What if he's innoc...

How Pink has pulled me through my life so far

Image
We all love celebrities, and most of us have one or two that we totally idolise , they have shaped the person we are today. I never thought I had a celebrity in my life who I felt had really influenced me until recently when I found myself in a pit of sadness and once again turned to the same great woman I always did- not Beyonce, not Kim Kardashian but Pink (or P!nk, as some of her hard core fans may prefer). I realised that in all of my hard times, my sad times and my darkest moments of self loathing, Pink had always been there for me. Not only is she an incredible individual who give's absolutely no sh*ts about what people think of her, she has great personal style that constantly changes, amazing hair do's in crazy colours and, most importantly of all, she sings about the hardest of times in the most uplifting of ways. Don't believe me? I've compiled a list of her most beneficial songs to demonstrate just how she has helped me out through the entirety of my l...

Introducing...Eve-Yasmine!

Those of you who listened to my first show on Blink FM on Friday 2nd January will have heard an amazing, unique, acoustic over of Gwen Stefani's well loved "Rich Girl", a brand new release from rising star, Eve-Yasmine. The song was well received by my listeners- for those of you who didn't catch my show, you can hear the song here - and so I thought I would introduce you even further into the world of Eve-Yasmin Saoud-Easton! With her roots being a mix from both Morocco and the UK, Eve has a funky, urban edge to her music and even made it into the MOBO Awards Unsung Top 20 Finalists list in 2014. As well as having a gorgeous voice, which features as part of the CK Gospel Choir, Eve also has some wicked presenting skills, and has interviewed a multitude of celebrities, including Kat Von D, Mcfly, Jimmy Choo, Example, Amir Khan and the cast of the Inbetweeners. However, Eve isn't limited at celebrity interviews, and has also presented several well recognised even...
