Here's to the underrated Disney heroes!

We all love a good Disney film, right? So often when a new Disney film comes out, there's a great discussion over the "hero" of the film- the hero usually being the main character- and lots of merchandise out dedicated to them. Children love them and are inspired by them, their song becomes the latest smash hit (Elsa, I'm looking at you), but there's one thing that I often get irked by- more often than not the main character is not the hero! Today I thought I'd share with you who I consider to be real Disney heroes! P.S. There are some spoiler alerts, beware!

*Disclaimer- some may be Pixar heroes but Disney bought Pixar in 2006 so it still counts!*

1) Bing Bong from Inside Out.
'Inside Out' is a brilliant film! The emotions are seen as the heroes- particularly Joy and Sadness- as they save the day in the end. However, we seem to overlook one of the most important, all be it minor, characters. Bing Bong, the imaginary friend! Bing Bong ends up sacrificing himself so that Joy and Sadness can succeed in saving the day! He actually, essentially, dies! It's so sad! And yet he gets totally forgotten about. Bing Bong, you are the unsung hero of 'Inside Out'!

2) Roquefort from Aristocats.
In 'Aristocats', we remember the three kittens, their glamorous mother Duchess and the charming Thomas O Mally- the hero of the film. But is he really the hero? Let us not forget poor little Roquefort who goes through some real trials and tribulations in order to try and save the kittens- including nearly being eaten by Thomas O Mally's alley cat friends! He tries so hard to be a right little Sherlock Holmes, from his little cape and cap to his varying detective skills. Roquefort you are a true hero!

3) Colonel, Captain and Sergeant Tibbs from 101 Dalmations.
When we think of '101 Dalmations' we think of the puppies and Cruella De Vil. How can we forget about Colonel, Captain and Sergeant Tibbs?! Not only is the grouping of a horse, sheepdog and tabby cat an unlikely friendship but the trio play a huge role in conveying messages throughout the film and helping to come up with heroic plots to help the film reach it's happy ending! Kudos guys, kudos.

4) The magic carpet from Aladdin.
Genie, Aladdin, Jafar and Jasmine, we know the main heroes and villains and all of them are credited as they should be. How can we forget to praise the magic carpet for all that he does?! Without the carpet, Aladdin would not escape from the cave in the first place and there would be no story further than the treasure cave that he is trapped in! He also helps Jasmine to fall in love with Aladdin thanks to their magic carpet ride where they serenade each other with the smash hit, "A Whole New World", helping to create the happy couple we know and love today! Thank you for completing the story of Aladdin, magic carpet!

5) Madame le Grande Bouche from Beauty and the Beast.
When it comes to 'Beauty and the Beast', most of the household objects are unsung heroes to me but the Wardrobe (only given her name for the stage adaptation!) is one of the least praised! It is her who presents Belle with her dress that blows the Beast's mind and helps him fall in love, breaking the curse on the castle. It is the Wardrobe who convinces Belle to go down for dinner with the Beast, starting their blossoming romance. And, it is the Wardrobe who knocks out several of the evil, male imposters, even locking some inside of herself! What a hero!

Are there any Disney characters that you feel are unsung heroes? Let me know in the comments below!
