FELINE FRIDAYS #5 Are kittens babies in disguise?

Image
It sounds like an odd thought but I am being genuinely serious when I ask...are kittens babies in disguise? Since getting Elsie and Doris I have legitimately felt like I have two babies. Cleaning up their poo and wee (although not as often as my poor mum!), being woken up by them in the middle of the night, having them stop me from watching TV or using my laptop by distracting me and/or getting in the way, needing feeding at set times of the day, crying when you don't do exactly what they want you to do... do you see where I'm going with this? In addition to being super demanding of all of our time and attention, the fur babies also like to be carried...everywhere. If they don't need to walk because one of us is available to carry them, they'll be carried.  They also know how to get your attention if you're busy. Lying in bed on your phone? Let's head butt that hand until she put's the phone down. Did you want to type something? Let m...

FELINE FRIDAYS #4 Envious Elsie

Elsie and Doris are sisters and, for the most part, best friend's too- thank God, because it would make our lives a lot harder if they weren't! However, increasingly so more recently, we've noticed that Elsie, the more dominant of the two, is very  jealous of any attention Doris gets from us.  Just the other day, little Doris was distressed whilst on heat, yowling and rubbing her belly along the floor, headbutting my hands etc. I bent down and gave her a big belly love which she loved  and was evidently doing her some good. However, just a few minutes later, Elsie (who I had left asleep upstairs) came running  downstairs and actually sat  on Doris's face, trying to get a belly rub from me instead. This then lead to a mini tussle between the two sisters, and often leaves Doris left sulking in the depths of under my mum's bed whilst Elsie smugly sprawls on my bedroom floor, pleased she's now getting all of the attention.  She's definite...

FELINE FRIDAYS #3: Poor little Doris.

It's Friday so that means one thing...another FELINE FRIDAY post! Today's post is a follow on from last weeks, where I was discussing the odd behaviour of the cats and whether this meant that they were on heat.  Well. My mum went to the vets to discuss the behaviour of our little fur babies with some professionals and it turns out that yes, they are on heat- or Doris is, at least! Over the last week since then it's been very on and off. Elsie hasn't been too affected by it, and we're just waiting for the day when she suddenly starts craving...well. Boys! Doris however... Well, she's nuts! She won't stop wriggling around on her belly, writhing on the floor like a snake. She likes to rub her head on things too, particularly bags and shoes. She lingers by windows and back doors, clearly desperate to go outside and yet we can't let her because she hasn't been spayed yet- but when we take her out on her lead, she freaks and wants ...
