Quality, not quantity

Image
Since I have been old enough to understand what it means, the phrase ‘ quality, not quantity ’ is something that I have always lived by  (unless we’re talking about alcohol, because it doesn’t matter about the quality of what you’re drinking, if you drink enough of it you still get drunk) In recent years, and more specifically in the last two years, the phrase ‘ quality, not quantity ’ has been applied to the people in my life. Growing up, it’s drilled into us that in order to feel loved and to be happy with your life you must be surrounded by a tonne of people.  Books, TV shows, movies and other elements of pop culture all tell us that if you don’t have many friends then you’re a ‘loser’ or an ‘outcast’. It’s time to stop this way of thinking, and start believing in quality, not quantity instead! Society has made us feel like we have to surround ourselves with as many people as possible to be happy, and this has caused us to feel its okay to create fake friendsh...

Your vibe attracts your tribe

Image
You’ve probably heard of the saying ‘ your vibe attracts your tribe ’. For the most part, I have found this to be true. However, have you ever stopped to think that maybe, it might work the other way around? Maybe your tribe actually creates your vibe? Now that’s something I definitely know to be true. Over the last two years of my life, I’ve made a huge amount of changes, and a lot of these changes have revolved around the kind of people I’ve been spending time with. It hasn’t always been easy to recognise that some of the people I believed that I loved the most were incredibly toxic for me, but once I opened my eyes and saw how they were dragging me down, I was able to cut them off and make room for more positive, dare I say it, better people in my life instead! "Five types of people you want to surround yourself with: the inspired, the passionate, the motivated, the grateful and the open minded" When you surround yourself with negative people , criti...

#NationalBestFriendDay

Image
So today, June 8th is National Best Friend Day. Now, I feel like I write about my friend's on my blog a lot, as well as posting photos of them and tweeting about the things we get up to and so on, so I hope you don't mind yet another post dedicated to my little chums.  I'm fortunate enough to have several best friends. They say you can only have one, but at this point in my life at least, I find that to be ridiculous. I relate to each and every one of them in a different way, and each and every one of them means the world to me. I do different things with different friends, enjoy different things with each and every one of them. Yet I love them all the same, and know that I can trust each one of them completely.  Bobbie is the one who has been my best friend for the longest. We have been friends for what feels like a life time, are basically the same person and always have so much fun together, be that chilling in her freezing flat drinking wine from cups,...

Good friends.

Image
It's so important to have good friends. In fact, when it comes to friendship, it really is quality over quantity. I don't have a massive number of friends, but all of my friends are people I trust 100% and would do anything for- I love them all to pieces! I'm lucky enough to have close friends that I see every day, some I see less than that, and some I rarely see at all. I have friends from college, friends at work and other people I'm just friend's with!  What I value most about my friendships is that time doesn't affect them at all. It doesn't matter how little or how often we see each other, when we're together it seems like no time has passed at all. Today I saw my gang of best friends (you know them all, I've featured them several times on the blog before!) for the first time in two months ! This is the longest we have ever gone without seeing each other! And yet, when we were together, it was like I'd only seen them last week.  ...

The importance of good company

Image
I have had the day from hell. I don't really want to talk about it, at all. However there is one thing that has come out of it that I do want to talk about, and that is the importance of having good friends. Without good friends, there would be no way I'd be getting through what I am going through right now. I may not have many friends but as they say, quality not quantity, and for me that is so true. Whilst I can count my good friends on one hand, they are all superstars. They are saying the right things, looking after me and making me laugh. I couldn't get through this without them. It's amazing how medicinal laughing can be. After a night out with some of my girlfriend's tonight, for an hour or two, I forgot everything that was going on in my life, I had fun and had a laugh. It felt really good and for a while I was genuinely happy. I hope that feeling sticks around a little longer.  My friends know who they are (at least, I hope they do!) so I won...

I'll take the bitchy look sundae, with an extra scoop of drama and a sprinkle of rumors to go...

Girls. Why can't we just get along? I can't remember a time in my life where I haven't witnessed, been mixed up in or been a shoulder to cry on for someone who's been mixed up in a messy friendship gone wrong. It seems to happen all to often, and whereas with boys, everything is over with and forgotten about once a few punches have been thrown, girls will drag an issue out for as long as they can, twisting it up, becoming more spiteful and worsening the situation in any way that they can the longer the problem goes on for. Why do we do this to each other?! I can guarantee that most of you reading this now will have been involved in some form of friendship drama or another at least once in your life. We all know how painful it can be, how difficult it can make things at school or at work, so why do we still not know any better? Why do we still find a thrill in feeding off the latest drama, getting all the gossip and participating in someone else's business, usu...
