Don't Be Jealous, Be Inspired

Image
"Don't be jealous, be inspired" This is one of my favourite quotes ever . It rings particularly true with me, and I think that's why I like it so much.  I have found myself the subject of jealous individuals since pursuing my media based career, and I have also been filled with jealousy as well. In both cases, neither have had a positive ending. When people are jealous of me ( that sounds so conceited to say but it has happened ) it's always kind of bittersweet. I'm flattered because obviously it means I'm doing well in life if people want what I have/want to do what I do. But it's not such a great feeling because jealousy is such a negative emotion, and I hate to have people feel negatively toward me!  Furthermore, it's weird if a 'friend' says they're jealous of me. Why would you be jealous of your friends? Surely they should be inspiring you, enlightening you. You should be proud of them, happy for them- not je...

FELINE FRIDAYS #4 Envious Elsie

Image
Elsie and Doris are sisters and, for the most part, best friend's too- thank God, because it would make our lives a lot harder if they weren't! However, increasingly so more recently, we've noticed that Elsie, the more dominant of the two, is very  jealous of any attention Doris gets from us.  Just the other day, little Doris was distressed whilst on heat, yowling and rubbing her belly along the floor, headbutting my hands etc. I bent down and gave her a big belly love which she loved  and was evidently doing her some good. However, just a few minutes later, Elsie (who I had left asleep upstairs) came running  downstairs and actually sat  on Doris's face, trying to get a belly rub from me instead. This then lead to a mini tussle between the two sisters, and often leaves Doris left sulking in the depths of under my mum's bed whilst Elsie smugly sprawls on my bedroom floor, pleased she's now getting all of the attention.  She's definite...

A letter to my haters

Image
Dear 'hater's', I hate the word "haters"- I cringe at having to use it. But there's no other word to describe you. Well, no other noun to describe you with. I can think of several adjectives- sad. Jealous. Lonely. Bitter. Bored.  But this isn't a hateful message to you all. This is actually a letter of thanks, believe it or not. You continuously try to bring me down with your nastiness and negativity. You try to ruin my achievements, my happiness, my success. You clearly think that you play such a large role in my life that you will actually make some kind of impact on me. And yes, sometimes you do. Sometimes I see what you're saying and I do want to quit and give up on what I'm doing. But more often than not, you spur me on and encourage me to be better.  I can turn all of your negative comments into constructive criticism to improve my writing, to more eloquently express my opinions. I grow more and more thick skinned with th...
