The Ultimate Glow Up

On Wednesday (1st November) I turned 22! Eeeeeek . That sounds so  old in my head! 21 seems like an age where it's still seen as acceptable to be a little wild, a little out of control, a bit of a party animal. 22- in my head, at least- sees so much older, so much more mature. I feel like I actually have to start being a responsible adult now, and like I need to start getting my shit together (for lack of better terminology!). As with all birthdays, I did spend some time surrounding my 22nd birthday reflecting on the kind of year I'd had being 21, and the kind of things that being 21 had brought to me and my life. I feel like I say this most years, but I genuinely feel like 21 was my best  year yet. Honestly, this year has shaped me like no other. When I was 20, life turned into a learning curve for me. I was experiencing things I wasn't used to, dealing with emotional turmoil that sent me to breaking point that I felt like I would never bounce back from and so, for the...

6 months in...

As we approach the 1st of June with a scarily rapid speed, I can't help but feel a little  freaked out that we are pretty much half way through the year. It's seven months today until Christmas, and seven months and 7 days until 2017. How bloody scary is that?! I genuinely do not understand where the time is going this year, it just seems to be disappearing more and more quickly. Anyway, I wanted to take some time to reflect on the kind of year 2016 has been for me so far. Well. It's definitely been different!  Of course, I expected that this year I'd be getting up to more exciting things with my boyfriend, but at the stroke of 12 on New Years Eve, I entered 2016 single- quite literally feeling like it was a new year with a new me. I didn't think I would be able to cope, I didn't see how my life would be able to go on after such a harsh and sudden adjustment after nearly five and half years of a set routine. But something magical happened.  ...

People who take credit for your accomplishments.

"There are people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments...but if you just focus on the work and don't let those people side track you, someday when you get where you're going, you'll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you that put you there and that will be the greatest feeling in the world".  These were some of the inspiring words Taylor Swift spoke during her acceptance speech at the 2016 Grammy's last night. Now, I don't particularly like Taylor Swift and find several flaws in how she deals with things such as feminist issues, but these words really resonated with me.  There are a handful of people who constantly try to turn my successes in life on themselves. Some say it as a joke, such as "well don't forget you wouldn't have done that if it weren't for me *wink face*", whilst others say it being genuinely serious. It grinds my ...

Why do people hate on the success of others?

Success is one of the best feelings in the world- especially because more often than not, it takes time to obtain it. You have to work your butt off before succeeding and when you do you feel on top of the world. Over the course of the last year and a bit, I have been fortunate enough to feel success on quite a few occasions, as I'm sure those who are regular readers of my blog will know. Whilst a few of the successes I faced were through good luck, 90% of them were down to non stop hard work. Success is a great reward for hard work...and so I have to pose a question to you all: Why are people so insistent on ruining people's success? Seriously. Why?! I have noticed it happening to myself, my friends, people I follow online and even celebrities! Once someone achieves something successful, people seem to try their god damn hardest to tear them down and ruin their happiness. When a celebrity loses weight on their tummy, rather than congratulate, people will be ...
