DORKFACE Shop | A review!

Image
Jemma, the blogging queen, more commonly known as Dorkface , is one of my favourite bloggers ever. Not only is she incrdibly supportive of everyone , a talented writer and the founder of the awesome community that is The Girl Gang, she's also an incredible artist who creates absolutely amazing and one of a kind products that are sold on her Etsy store. A few weeks ago, Jemma asked me if I'd be interested in reviewing some of her products- and I, of course, jumped at the opportunity! I love all  of her products so was thrilled to be gifted some, especially when the package turned up and it turned out everything she sent me were items I had planned to buy anyway!  The Packaging Packaged in an envelope with cute stickers on, the actual products inside of the envelope were sealed in a plastic packaging filled with sparkly glitter and brightly coloured, polka-dot confetti! It was basically Jem in an envelope! She left a very sweet note on the front too, which really ...

My Career Plans for 2018

Image
Anyone who knows me will know that I am incredibly career-orientated. I'm all about being a girlboss, I'm always trying to make more money, looking into new business ideas, learning how I can further myself and become better at what I'm already doing. I am definitely a go-getter  and that's not something that's going to change in 2018- in fact, it's only going to become more apparent.  I've got so many ideas whirling around my brain about things that I'd like to achieve over the next year in terms of my career. I'm not going to set myself any solid goals (for one of the first times in my life!) because I don't want to feel disappointed in myself if I don't achieve them. However, I am going to make a list of these plans (in a notebook as well as in this post!) and speak them into existence and just hope  and pray  that they spring to life! So, what do I want out of my career in 2018? 1- A book Yep, thats right! I wan...

HEIRESS LONDON

Image
Anyone who knows me knows how down for female empowerment I am. I'm a fierce feminist, I support women doing brilliant things, donate monthly to women's charities, speak about about women's rights and support women running their own businesses in a world that constantly tries to suppress women and all they want to do.  One of my new favourite companies that focus on female empowerment is Heiress London, a brand new clothing company that promotes the idea of women creating their own streams of wealth through their inherited creativity, ability, self-belief and self-worth. I stumbled across the brand one night on Instagram and fell in love with their brand ethos and the designs of their clothes. To my surprise, Heiress London reached out to me and offered to send me a sweatshirt of theirs in a design of my choice! Of course I accepted, and I went for a design that I feel just screams  'Flo'!  Obviously I opted for a black sweatshirt (all black, ...

"You've changed"

Image
"They'll be so quick to say you've changed, when it's really them who aren't growing" I love this quote. It is so real and so relevant.  Over the last two years I have had so many people walk into my life but I have had twice as any of them leave. Why? Because I 'change'.  I would hope I've changed! Over the course of two years, if I'd stayed the same person I would be very ashamed of myself. Personally, I much prefer who I am today than who I was two years ago. I'm wiser, I have progressed further in my career, I have more confidence, I'm healthier and I have achieved things I could only ever have dreamed of before. Best of all, I'm running my own business.  Now, for those of you who don't know, I'm a very  career driven person. I sometimes work as long as 20 hours a day for a multitude of jobs. Over the last year especially I have taken on a larger work load than ever before and set myself even big...

Career vs. Relationship

Image
Last week, I saw this image online. It really irked me and I had to share it on Twitter to see what some of my pals thought of the image. Luckily, their thoughts were very similar to my own; that it was ridiculous.  This is the image I'm talking about. The one that states that "A career is great but you can't curl up with it when you're lonely at night".  There is several things about this post that piss me off. Firstly, its the implication that a relationship is more important than a career. And okay, while for some people it might be, for other people it's not. Who is anyone to dictate to someone what should be a priority to them? If chasing your dream career is your number one focus in life, great. If settling down with the love of your life is your number one focus, brilliant. If it's neither of those, good for you. It's a personal opinion and totally down to each individual.  Secondly, why does there have  to be a competitio...

This year is MY year.

Image
This year really has been the making of me. I honestly feel as though I have evolved so much as a person this year, for the better. I have become more independent, more confident, more sociable, even more  ambitious (hey, who knew that was possible?). I really feel like 2016 will be my year, and that by the time I reach 31st December 2016, I'll be looking back on the year thinking "Wow. Look what I did".  By the end of this year... I hope to have achieved my journalism qualification- or at least  the coursework, because I have a feeling the next round of exams isn't until April. It's so exciting to think that I will soon be a 'proper' journalist. Obviously I refer to myself as a journalist now, because I write for a number of websites and printed publications, but soon I'll be qualified , and I know that will be an amazing feeling! No university, no student debt, no struggling to find a job. I feel so lucky to be in this position and I k...

People who take credit for your accomplishments.

Image
"There are people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments...but if you just focus on the work and don't let those people side track you, someday when you get where you're going, you'll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you that put you there and that will be the greatest feeling in the world".  These were some of the inspiring words Taylor Swift spoke during her acceptance speech at the 2016 Grammy's last night. Now, I don't particularly like Taylor Swift and find several flaws in how she deals with things such as feminist issues, but these words really resonated with me.  There are a handful of people who constantly try to turn my successes in life on themselves. Some say it as a joke, such as "well don't forget you wouldn't have done that if it weren't for me *wink face*", whilst others say it being genuinely serious. It grinds my ...

2015- time to reflect!

Image
2014 was the best  year of my life to date. I began pursuing my media career, started blogging, got my own radio show, trained to be a TV presenter, interned at Closer magazine, joined college to study Creative Business and finished the year by becoming a columnist for my county's local magazine. I really doubted that 2015 would be any better than that...but it was ten times better ! I made some career changes, developed my writing skills and had even more amazing opportunities! Here's a little reflection of the year I've had... January I started the year off with my first ever solo radio show, 'Friday's with Florence Grace' on January 2nd. I was so scared but  totally in my element , it flowed so well and I was on a total high- presenting on air is what I'm born to do, I'm sure! Luckily, my listeners totally loved my first solo show too. I had never felt happier! I was accepted to write for an online magazine, Eevee Life magaz...
