3 Tips to Help You Get Over A Bad Relationship When Starting a New One

Image
Relationships can be hard, can't they? Finding the ideal partner is hard enough for a start! Finding someone you want to invest your time into, spend your forseeable future with, build a life with- you've got to make sure you find the right guy or girl! But then there's other problems to overcome- small fights, big fights, making compromises, insecurities to get over, anxieties, disagreements and everything in between. Do you know what makes all of this 10 times harder? Coming from a bad relationship into a good one.  It's no secret that almost two years ago, I was coming out of a toxic and abusive six year relationship that absolutely destroyed me. It affected me so badly in fact, that I vowed never to have a relationship again. I wouldn't let anyone in again, I wouldn't bother to invest time or effort, or any part of myself into another person ever again. I didn't want to go through the heartbreak, the pain, the hurt. I was struggling so much t...

Things I've learnt whilst blogging

Image
I've been blogging for almost two and a half years now (honestly, where the hell has time gone?!) and in that time I have learnt a lot of things, about blogging, about bloggers and about myself! Not all of them have been good things but all of them have been beneficial to the work that I do, so I thought I would share some of the most important things I've learnt with you guys!  Be wary of your stats When I hit 100,000 blog views- according to Blogger- I was absolutely thrilled! When I saw my blog posts getting 200, 500, 1000 page views, I was over the moon! And then I found out that Blogger stats are basically a lie. If you want to check your stats and page views etc. accurately, use Google Analytics. I was shocked at the drastic difference between the figures and it really made me feel a bit crap about my writing at first, but then it just made me work harder to push for more views and engagement! Bloggers are so supportive Honestly, I've rarely come ac...

#SeptemberStudies- Tips for studying online

Image
An education option that is often forgotten about is studying online. Currently, I'm studying an NCTJ Diploma in Magazine Journalism online so that I could continue to pursue my media career whilst still gaining an additional qualification. There are lots of benefits to studying online: It's cheaper than university. My course cost just £345- however my lovely Dad was kind enough to pay for it for me! However, there is no denying that this is a lot cheaper than university.  It's flexible. If you need to work, or perhaps you're a parent, studying online is a great way to balance your busy lifestyle with your studies as you can literally do it in your own time, whenever works for you.  You get a lot of one on one time with your tutor via things such as Skype. Your tutor gives you 100% attention and there is also usually a student help line open 24/7, so even if you're studying at some random time, such as 3am, you can still get help.  With that bein...

#SeptemberStudies- How much time should you spend studying?

Image
Yesterday I wrote about how to maintain a social life whilst studying; today I'm going to be talking about just how much time you should spend on your studies.  Ultimately, it's a personal decision and it varies from person to person depending on a number of factors. You need to take into consideration a few things: What are you studying?  Does one subject have more coursework than another? Does one subject require more revision for a more in depth exam? You and your friends might be studying different things and you won't all be able to study the same amount of time as each other. Some of you will need to do more and some of you not so much.  Are you up to date with your work? If you're a little bit behind because you've been ill or missed a lesson, you're going to need more time to catch up on work you've missed. This will require more study time.  Do you understand the content completely? If you don't understand what you're stud...

Let's drop the C-Bomb...

Image
I'm going to drop the dreaded C-bomb right about now... ...no, not that one! I'm talking about Christmas  of course! I know, I know, it's still five months away (anyone else counting?) but it's honestly time to start preparing- trust me!  At Christmas, I go big. I mean, really big. I spent nearly £1,000 on presents last year, and given that at that time I was working an eight hour contract with some Christmas over time and had only just started freelancing, that was a big deal for me. I suppose it doesn't help that both of my sisters, my mum and my dad's girlfriend all have birthday's around Christmas too, so I have a lot to fork out for! It honestly doesn't phase me though because I absolutely adore  buying people gifts. I get so excited about giving them out and seeing the look on people's faces. I'm a bit of a pro at buying perfect presents, if I do say so myself.  So this year, I've done myself a favour. Rather than do ...

The benefits of drinking water

Image
Health guidelines say that it is important to drink 8 glasses of water every day- or, alternatively, 2 litres. Now I know that I definitely do not drink this much water- in fact, it's a miracle if I even have one glass of water, despite it being all that I really drink. This often leads to a lot of negative side affects such as headaches due to dehydration. Recently though, I have started to try and drink more water than I normally do, managing to get in about one 500ml bottle and 2 glasses of water a day. I've noticed the benefit's of doing this already, and whilst the benefits of drinking more water are pretty commonly known, I thought I'd just remind you of them in case you too needed a little prompt to drink a bit more... Keeps you hydrated. This is obvious, I know, but being dehydrated is so bad for your body. It's important that your body has enough water in it so that it can function properly.  Clears your skin. If you find that you h...

Staying organised!

Image
I literally juggle 1,000 tasks at once. My to do list very day seems to be endless, and yet somehow  I nearly always manage to get everything done- if not on that day, then by the end of the week. Today I thought I'd share with you some top tips for helping to keep on top of work loads and to stay organised. 1) Know your limits. It's okay to take on huge amounts of work- if  you can handle it. Start out with a small load of jobs, and if you feel you can take on more, add one task at a time until you feel you're approaching your limit. Always make sure you don't feel too much pressure/strain and are comfortable with the tasks you have to do.  2) Keep more than one diary. That's right, more than one- one for work and one for your personal life. Alternatively, keep two diaries but write your personal and work in both . Then if you lose one, you have a back up and won't struggle. Either way, keep more than one diary! I have four .  3) Writ...

10 best ways of getting through a break up

Image
Sadly, I started 2016 as a single lady, after being in a wonderful relationship for nearly 5 and a half years. Since I was 14 I have been with the same lovely man and we had a brilliant time. Yes there were ups and downs but that's relationships for you. However, things ran their course and now it's all over. I thought I'd share with you all some tips on how to get through a break up in the best way possible- to help myself and some of you too! 1) Don't say things you'll regret. It's easy to say things you don't mean in a heated argument. My advice? Don't. You may never see or speak to this person again, do you really want things to end on such a bitter note? It will more than likely leave you with regrets later on in life, so just keep things to the point and as civil as you can.  2) Don't dwell on the past. Don't dwell on the shoulda coulda woulda's. They will make you feel worse. Just accept that things are over and ...
