90's sports trend SS16

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know I'm not really a fashion blogger. If you've been following my tweets recently, you'll have seen how head over heels I have fallen for the latest fashion trend of 90's sports wear. So, put the two together and you get one very poor Flo with lots of 90's sports clothes and her first fashion blog post!

I've never done one of these before so excuse my chunky thighs, awkward poses and slightly off editing! These are my favourite looks for this season though so I hope you enjoy them!

Look 1- Cold shoulders.

This look is so simple and probably the least sporty of them all, so suitable for pretty much anyone! The cold shoulder, holey jumper is so simple but can be dressed up with jeans and heeled boots or- for the sake of this trend- dressed down for a more casual, sporty look! I've paired the jumper with some plain black "treggings" (really thick leggings!), my floral Nike's from the Aloha series which add a splash of colour to the outfit and my black Adidas sporty handbag.

Look 2- Adidas angel.

With the 90's sports look being all the rage right now, sports brands are coming back in a big way- namely Adidas and Ellesse. This simple Adidas tee can be styled in so many different ways- with skinny jeans or mum jeans, over a faded denim mini skirt or, like my own styling here, with leggings. I've teamed this laid back ensemble with a red and black plaid bomber (another huge hit this year!) and my gold sequinned Adidas Superstars. The sporty Adidas handbag completes this look nicely too!

Look 3- Bold bralets.

Bralets are as on trend this year as they were last summer, and this cut out bralet is no exception. The cut out hole at the front adds some minor detail that somehow makes all the difference. Paired again with those trusty leggings, you can be bold and wear it alone or, like me, add an extra layer on top- an oversized shirt, a bomber or a sleeveless blazer. This look is finished off with silver holographic Adidas Superstars. Sporty but so stylish.

Look 4- Mesh mania.

We've already covered that sports brands and bombers are in in a big way this year but also making a regular appearance (as you'll see further down this post) is mesh! I've always loved a bit of mesh/netting and when I saw this crop top I knew I had to have it! I've kept the bralet featured in Look 3 underneath and kept on those trusty leggings too, completing the look with my all pink Pharrel Williams Adidas Superstars. I think this top would look great with mum jeans or skinny jeans too, or even over a strappy bodycon dress! For layering, consider a sleeveless blazer, bomber jacket or denim jacket!

Look 5- Keep it casual.

Latex leggings with cut out sides really add a bit more of an edge to this outfit. It's another Adidas tee, and this time there's more colour and co ordination to the outfit, focusing on black, red and gold. For me, this looks like the "on the way to/back from the gym" look- which is essentially what this seasons trend is all about! The Adidas handbag makes another appearance, keeping things feminine but still sporty and bang on trend!

Look 6- Sport style.

Another bold bralet making an appearance, but covering up a little more than the previous one! This is designed like a sports bra and can be worn by itself, such as in this look, or as a base for layering, which is something else that is really in this season! Whether you're wearing it to the gym, on a run or just for everyday fashion, this bralet is definitely a must! Cue look seven...

Look 7- Stylin' sweater.

This mesh sweatshirt with non-mesh sleeves is one of my favourite pieces I've purchased as part of this trend! It's so slouchy and comfortable and can look so laid back or more glammed up with the right accessories! Underneath, I've chosen the sport bralet from the above look and stuck with black leggings for the bottom half of the outfit- I'm yet to try the look with jeans but I'm not sure it would look quite right, as the sweatshirt is quite sporty, so I'd probably stick to leggings or some stylish trackie bottoms!

Look 8- Basketball babe.

When sportswear is in fashion, there's only really one sport that makes it to the womenswear...basketball jerseys! This is an oversized basketball vest that I have knotted at the front to a) add a feminine touch and b) make into a crop top with the high waisted leggings. I've kept the sports bralet underneath as the colours (black, red and white) match the colours of the jersey, and then added the bomber over the top as again, the colours match! This can be knotted around the waist for a more casual look!

Look 9- Basketball babe 2.0

This basketball jersey is slightly different from the one in the previous net as there is more material- it isn't just see through net! On each sleeve is a different team and there is more detailing printed on the front. I paired this with white jeans to bring out the white detailing on the shirt and kept a bralet underneath- I think it would look quite cool to have a bright bralet underneath, such as a red one, to brighten this look up a little! As I only have black bralets however, I chose to brighten up the look with my footwear- my bright pink Adidas Superstars.

Look 10- Net, net net!

This look is very simple and can work in so many different ways- it's all focused around this long line net vest with wide arm holes and split sides. I've teamed it with the sports bralet and white jeans, but you could wear this over any kind of bralet or vest top and over any jeans or leggings- I think it would even work with the right pair of trackies. It's a very versatile piece, and I think with some gold jewellery, such as statement necklace, it could be glammed right up too!

The shoes.

It's all about the trainers this season! Whilst I love my Nike Roshe Run's from the Aloha series (seriously so comfy!), I am a total Superstar girl and since November 1st have got myself three pairs- my all pink Pharrel Williams ones, silver holographic ones and gold sequinned ones! A new month calls for a new pair I think...
