My style inspirations

Since I started blogging, just over 18 months ago now (!), I have found myself immersed in people who live and breathe fashion. At first I didn't pay it much attention, being what I would call a lifestyle blogger, but I have noticed that my taste in clothing and my personal style has majorly improved and developed since being influenced by these bloggers. It's even encouraged me to do something I have never really done before, and that's looking at celebrities for style inspiration. Some days, I dress like a glamour puss and some days, I dress like a hood rat. There's not really an in between so my inspirations do vary...but here are the celebs who inspire my style the most!

Marina Diamandis (aka Marina and the Diamonds). 





Whether its from her Family Jewels, Electra Heart or her Froot stage, her style has always been impeccable, adventurous and unique. Even in the most tomboyish of outfits, she'll add a feminine touch such as a splash of pink, a hair ribbon or some lace. Amazing.


Charli XCX.





Taking inspiration from the 90's, films like 'Clueless' and erotic clothing, Charli XCX dresses like absolutely no one else, managing to always look like a total babe. Faux fur, pink, a little bit of punk, clashing patterns and sky high heels, what is not to love about her looks?


Anne-Marie. 





Massive hoops? Check. Girling up a tomboy look? Check. Mesh, pink and bold outfit choices? Check, check, check. Anne-Marie is an urban beauty after my own heart. Her statements are bold and beautiful- she's definitely a breath of fresh air to both the mainstream music world but also the fashion industry. 


Rihanna.






No one does glam like Rihanna (think pink, see through dress!) but no one does casual quite like her either, and that's the look that I adore. Comfy outfits with caps turned glam with statement jewellery and good make up- I like to think this is my kind of style!

Children With Cancer UK Fashion Show!

Friday 27th February 2015 saw the grand event that was a fashion show in London for the fabulous charity, Children with Cancer UK. I was invited to the event about 2 weeks ago as a blogger, to cover the event and raise awareness of the charity. I was honored to have been asked to do so, as the charity is really just so important, as well as super excited to cover a fashion show, as this was something I had never done before! The night was a huge success, and the display of talent was extremely impressive- from the designers work, to the various acts performing in between! The venue was fairly glamorous, based at The Building Centre in London, and upon entry we received glasses of wine, nibbles and goody bags, as well as having the opportunity to mingle with some of the other guests before the show began. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek - Body Image and Mental Health

This week (13th - 20th May 2019) is Mental Health Awareness Week. This year, the theme is Body Image - how we think and feel about our bodies.  Those of you who have followed me for some time will know that for about two years now, if not more, I have been an advocate for body positivity and self love. More recently, you may have seen me featured in a story in The Metro , talking about a body shaming incident I experienced on holiday and how I dealt with it.  There's absolutely no denying that there is a direct correlation between body image and our mental health. I know that personally, when I'm experiencing a "bad body day" and don't feel very positively about my body, for whatever reason, my mental health goes down the drain too. Yet when we feel good about our bodies, this can be reflected in our mental health too.  When I experienced body shaming in my bikini on holiday, I felt the lowest I had in a while. Eating Disorders- the Blunt Truth.

WARNING:  The following content is sensitive and me be triggering to those suffering from, recovering from or who have recovered from eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia and other health problems such as depression. As I sit down in my local pub ready to tuck into my generous portion of gammon and chips, I feel a prickle on the back of my neck- that all to familiar feeling of knowing that someone is staring at you. As I whip my head around the dining area, my eyes fall on the slender figure of a girl, probably around my age, maybe a few years younger, looking at me with disgust in her eyes- disgust clearly at the way I look and what I'm eating. I feel fat, bulky, uncomfortable and I let my glance fall to her own plate, noticing she has a salad, mostly untouched. She sips constantly at her water like it's the only thing keeping her alive.
