Ways to live a better life



Work. Eat. Sleep. Work. Eat. Sleep.

So many of us are stuck in this mind numbingly boring routine we seem to call "life". And whilst most of us will complain about this dreary routine we seem to have, very few of us will do anything to change it.

But life is short- certainly too short to do anything other than work, eat and sleep and call it "living". So many people would marvel at the opportunities some of us are surrounded by. I think sometimes it's best to take a step back and view your life as an outsider. Are you too focused on small, irrelevant things, missing out on the bigger picture? Are you forgetting to eat breakfast, are you maintaining a healthy relationship with everyone in your life? Sometimes it's hard to acknowledge that you might need to change something- but acknowledgement is the first step forwards. Once you've done that part- the hard part- you can begin to transform your life into the wonderful thing it should be! Here's some ways to live a better, more fulfilling life.


Maintain a balanced diet.
Eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. Have a snack if you want. Eat carbs, eat sweets but eat fruit too. It's the balance that's the key. Your body needs food from all food groups, so don't deprive it of any. Don't skip meals, don't deprive yourself of food when you're hungry. Keep healthy.

Exercise.
Not only is exercise great for your body in general, but it also releases endorphins which means you will natural feel good within yourself- what's not to like? The key is to find an exercise that works for you and your body, that you enjoy and that you don't view as a chore!

Go for walks.
It sounds so simple but sometimes you just need a break to get some fresh air. Walk around your local town, park or to a nice spot that only you know. Leave your phone at home, but take some music. Stick in your headphones and take in the world around you!

Read a book.
We spend so much time looking at screens nowadays, it can actually be the cause of several health problems, including sight problems, RSI and severe headaches which can lead to further problems. Get yourself comfy on the sofa, have your favourite snack beside you and get lost in a good book!

Sing!
Singing is a free activity that also releases endorphins, making you feel naturally happy! You don't have to be good, just create a playlist of all of your favourite tunes and belt them out. Who cares who's listening?

Work less.
If you're a workaholic (like myself!) it's important that you make time to do fun things that aren't work related in any way- such as seeing friends, going on a coffee date, catching up with your family and so on. Taking a break from work is so important- you have your whole life ahead of you to work, so taking a short break won't do you any harm!

Less screen time.
Try to reduce the amount of time spent staring at a screen, be that a TV screen, iPad, iPod, computer, laptop, tablet or phone- just stop! Why not try something artistic instead, take up a new hobby, clean the house or take your dog for a walk- anything that doesn't involve a screen!
