BIG bloggers

Image
You know what's really pissing me off right now? BIG bloggers. You know, not the bloggers who are Zoella big, but one's with an Instagram or Twitter following of between 10K and 50K, you know what I mean? Well, these kinds of bloggers are really beginning to get on my last nerve. Want to know why? Well, you're reading this post, so I assume that you do. I hate how they attempt to further grow their following. That is literally it. For the last couple of weeks, I have had three 'BIG bloggers' follow and unfollow and follow and unfollow and follow me continuously, almost every single day! I can only see this to be a way to try and get my attention, constantly popping up in my notifications in a desperate attempt to try and get me to follow them back. Well guess what? If I don't like your Instagram or Twitter account, I'm not going to follow you back. It literally does not phase me how many times you follow me, you could do it on the hour and it...

Love from... magazine

Image
Today's post is a little bit of self promotion and a little call for ' help ' I suppose! For those of you who don't already know, I run my own magazine, Love from... . This magazine has been running since June 1st and it's been an incredible journey. I have had a varied range of talented writers- at one point I had 23!- but now have a pretty secure little team covering a range of lifestyle topics. At Love from... we pride ourselves on the fact that we don't focus on women's bodies or looks, but more interesting, important and creative topics, from movie reviews to dinner recipes, travel articles to photography tips, we really do have quite a wide range of topics covered. As the founder and editor of the magazine, I am the only person who puts funds into the magazine, with the money coming straight from my own pocket. Whilst I do charge people to buy copies, I don't make a profit off of the magazines- in fact, sometimes I don't even bre...

Things you should know about bloggers

Image
Recently, there have been several articles by established magazines, both online and offline, about "what bloggers are like" and "things you should know about bloggers". Publishers of such articles have included the likes of Pretty 52 and Cosmo. Always, the articles are so far from the truth it has the blogosphere in uproar, outraged at such stereotypes and to be frank, the blatant ridiculousness of the points made. Furthermore, when non-bloggers read these articles, they are given the wrong idea about us, what we do and why we do it.  Why do magazines do this to us bloggers? In my opinion  it's because they feel threatened by bloggers and the undeniable power that we have. We produce regular, creative and engaging content that is more often than not more accurate and reliable than a magazine gossip column or newspaper tabloid. We also provide this content across the web for free . No need to fork out up to £4 on a magazine full of demoralising articl...

Dear Cosmo... you're wrong.

Image
On the morning of 24th January 2016, members of the blogging world were disturbed from their Sunday morning slumber by the irritating and totally ignorant views of none other than Cosmopolitan magazine. Publishing a piece named "15 things you should know before dating a girl who blogs", Cosmo managed to insult pretty much every member of the blogging community in 0.5 seconds. Well done, Cosmo. The list of 15 things was so  insulting but if you really wish to read it you can find it here   (God I hate to give them those extra, undeserved post views). The post hasn't just insulted "real" bloggers, such as myself, but it has also once again created this completely ridiculous and wrong  view of who bloggers are and what we do! Let's start with the constant reference to the "freebies" we apparently receive all  of the time. First of all, I don't know any ordinary blogger who isn't on the same level as Zoella that receives freebies a...

Advertising with Love from, Florence Grace

Since I started blogging, I have seen bloggers charge for advertising space on their blogs, and I have seen how beneficial it has been to other bloggers and businesses, whether that's boosting their followers or increasing traffic to their blog/website and raising brand awareness- I've even had an advert on someone else's blog myself, and have reaped the benefits because of it. I have decided to start offering advertising on my own blog, to help out all of those who have helped me, supported me or maybe just want some extra publicity via my own social media platforms. Whether you're a blogger, a business, running an event or maybe something entirely different, I'd love to help you out! Here is what I can offer you for one month (30 days from an agreed start date).: A promotional tweet every day for a month (this is a tweet written by me with a link to your blog/website/event and your twitter account). A retweet on any of your own tweets with links to your bl...

The big 100!!!

So, 10 months into blogging I have reached my 100th post! Insane, right? Anyway, I wanted to make my 100th post a special one, as it's quite a big deal, and the wonderful Justine, of Girl Gone Dreamer  suggested I do some sort of list of 100 things relating to a certain topic. I thought this was a fabulous idea, and so had settled on "100 things that I have learnt whilst blogging!". However, I got to 50 and began to struggle. So this is "50 things I have learnt whilst blogging and 50 bloggers you must follow!" It's going to be a lengthy post but I hope you all enjoy it! 1) You make some AMAZING friends. Truly the best part about blogging has been all of the people I have met! 2) You can blog about literally anything- not just beauty and fashion. I've met bloggers of some really unique topics. 3) You'll learn a lot  about a variety of topics, from mental health to feminism, to politics. It's all going down in the world of blogging. 4) You ...
