Losing motivation

Image
If you've been following me on social media for a while, or at least for the duration of 2016, you'll know that on the 1st of January I took on the challenge of writing a blog post for every single day of the year, no matter what. Throughout my birthday week, two holidays and a a variety of drunken nights, I have still posted a blog post without fail, even if it sometimes gets posted at 11:57pm.  Timing isn't really a problem for me. I always make time to write, it's part of my job after all! However, I'm faced with a bigger problem now.  Writers block and lack of motivation/inspiration.  It's difficult writing for a blog that doesn't have a niche. If I was a beauty blogger, there'd be get ready with me and product review posts. If I was a fashion blogger, I could just do endless outfit of the day posts. However, because I'm a lifestyle writer, I can literally write about anything and everything and it literally kills me trying ...

Don't Be Jealous, Be Inspired

Image
"Don't be jealous, be inspired" This is one of my favourite quotes ever . It rings particularly true with me, and I think that's why I like it so much.  I have found myself the subject of jealous individuals since pursuing my media based career, and I have also been filled with jealousy as well. In both cases, neither have had a positive ending. When people are jealous of me ( that sounds so conceited to say but it has happened ) it's always kind of bittersweet. I'm flattered because obviously it means I'm doing well in life if people want what I have/want to do what I do. But it's not such a great feeling because jealousy is such a negative emotion, and I hate to have people feel negatively toward me!  Furthermore, it's weird if a 'friend' says they're jealous of me. Why would you be jealous of your friends? Surely they should be inspiring you, enlightening you. You should be proud of them, happy for them- not je...

How do you react to comparison?

Image
The other day I was reading through a businesswoman/bloggers' social media feeds. I'd only just followed her, so I was having a browse, ya know? And while I found her incredibly inspiring by everything this woman was doing, I also felt a bit...gutted. This woman had been blogging/content creating for just a few short years and had managed to set herself up with a six figure salary. Six figures!! Her blog is dedicated to helping other bloggers to do the same as her and she made it sound so easy- it just made me feel worse!  Now, I know that is the wrong way to think, and as I said, I was inspired by this woman, but I couldn't help feeling a little bit 'meh' about how little success my own blog had brought around. I just couldn't help it. I wanted to have been able to utilise my skills the way she had, earning myself a six figure salary just like her!  The inspiration is the important part here though, and thankfully it quickly eradicated my...

Inspirational Quotes!

Image
It can be hard to remain focused. Focused on work, focused on tasks, focused on relationships- everything! I often struggle with the motivation to stay focused and inspired myself, especially when I'm doing things like daily blogging! It can all be quite difficult to come by and I often find help in these areas can come from inspirational, motivating and positive quotes I stumble across online. Today, I thought I would share some of these quotes with you so that if you're ever at a loss for some motivation you can pop over here and find some!  (If you follow me on Instagram, you may already have seen these!) It can be hard to see the 'light at the end of the tunnel' so to speak. Always remember that whatever obstacle is in your way, you can push through it. There is always a solution, a way round it. The only thing standing in your way is you .  Not everyone in life is going to like you, and that is fine . The sooner you realise this and b...

10 things you'll only know if you're an entrepreneur

Image
Nowadays it's easier than ever to try and start your own business. Everyday people create online stores selling easily designed goods thanks to sites such as Vista Print, where you can bulk buy unique products and personalise them with ease for a pretty decent rate. Of course, not all businesses survive, because whilst it's easier than ever to start a business, it hasn't really got any easier to run one. I run a business myself, my magazine "Love from...", and I can tell you it is far  from easy. People never understand the situation you're in as an entrepreneur, so I've compiled a list to help you out. Show this to anyone who questions your motives or just "doesn't get it". Here's 10 things you'll only know if you're an entrepreneur.  1) You don't always get to quit your job straight away. Whilst you want your job to be your main career and your main source of income, it's definitely not always possible for...

Are you a whiner or a doer?

Image
I've come to find that there are two types of people in this world- the whiners and the doers. It is possible to sometimes overlap and be a little bit of both, bet essentially you're one or the other.  Me? I'm a doer. I work my butt off 24/7. Well. Not literally 24/7 but sometimes for as long as 18-20 hours a day. I work part time at Topshop, I voluntarily write columns for two magazines, I blog, occasionally I do TV work with 4Music and some radio work, I study a diploma online and I also run my own magazine. Why? Because one day I want my work to stand for something. I want to bring about change within the media industry- hopefully with my magazine. I have a vision in mind and I have goals and I know exactly how hard I have to work to smash them.  "I've got a dream that's worth more than my sleep" Then you get the whiners. More often than not, they're the same as the doers. They have huge dreams, they know where they want to be and...

Fitness with Florence Grace

Those of you who know me or follow my social media sites will be aware that my body shape, health and weight is something I battle with on a daily basis. Sometimes I love my body, sometimes I hate it. I have been watching my mum's fitness journey for the last 9 months and watched her drop 3 or 4 dress sizes and gain a nice, flat tum...if that's not something to motivate me, I don't know what is! At the start of the year, I participated in the #TakeBackWhatsYours challenge, and decided I wanted to take back my health. Whilst it kills me to think of the weight I could have lost between January and now, it's better to start late than not at all. I am going on holiday at the start of July so have 3 months to reach my goal weight. I have decided to document my fitness journey on my blog as a means of motivating myself, and hopefully helping and motivating others. Disclaimer: by no means am I a professional, so everything I talk about is purely things that I have found help...
