Does Twitter really need an edit button?

Image
There’s one thing avid Twitter users long for more than anything else in the world- an edit button . Every time a social media platform brings out a totally random update, you’ll see endless tweets of fury: “ Instagram can give us identical snapchat filters and Twitter STILL can’t give us an edit button?! ” But do we really need an edit button on Twitter?   To me, the answer is simple: no, we do not . You can only imagine the havoc that would be caused if people were able to tweet something and then edit it before anyone else could see it, changing their words entirely. Bullies would have an absolute field day! Tell someone to kill themselves, leave it there long enough for it to effect the individual it’s being said to and then edit it to something sweet and lovely, so that to the outside world you look like the best of friends. And not only bullies and ordinary everyday people, but imagine people in power too! You can only imagine the likes of Piers Morgan and D...

THAT Innocent tweet

Image
Last night, people anxiously sat at home, wondering what fate had in store for them. Of course, it was A Level Results Eve! Teenagers across the country who had spent the last two years of their life studying and working hard to obtain a certain set of exam results had approximately 12 hours left before they found out how they'd done- and their fate was sealed. It was at this time that popular drinks company, Innocent Smoothies, decided to make a joke that a number of people took in an oh so serious way- myself included. Here's the tweet: If anyone is worrying about their #ALevelResults tomorrow, remember there’s always a career in social media to fall back on. — innocent drinks (@innocent) 17 August 2016 Now, as an individual who works in the social media industry, this did irk me. Yes, I can understand that it's meant to be a joke and meant to be something lighthearted to put a smile on the strained and stressed teens of the UK but, really? Let me tel...

How social media is helping my weight loss

Image
This post is going to be a bit of a weird one. I'm going to sound more millennial and social media obsessed than ever before, but I'm always honest on my blog, and this was something that I wanted to share with you guys, so. Today I'm going to tell you guys how social media is helping  my weight loss.  We all know just how addicted I am to social media. Not only is it my job to post on social media but I also love to update my social media every minute of every day! Not only does it help me to promote my blog and magazine, it helps me to make new friends, stay connected with old friends and creates a digital diary, so I can look back in a years time using things like TimeHop to see what I was doing a year ago, two years ago and so on.  My favourite social media site is Instagram , and it's Instagram that has been helping me to stay on track with my healthy eating and my get fit regime. Like many people, I'm obsessed with making my Instagram look prett...

BIG bloggers

Image
You know what's really pissing me off right now? BIG bloggers. You know, not the bloggers who are Zoella big, but one's with an Instagram or Twitter following of between 10K and 50K, you know what I mean? Well, these kinds of bloggers are really beginning to get on my last nerve. Want to know why? Well, you're reading this post, so I assume that you do. I hate how they attempt to further grow their following. That is literally it. For the last couple of weeks, I have had three 'BIG bloggers' follow and unfollow and follow and unfollow and follow me continuously, almost every single day! I can only see this to be a way to try and get my attention, constantly popping up in my notifications in a desperate attempt to try and get me to follow them back. Well guess what? If I don't like your Instagram or Twitter account, I'm not going to follow you back. It literally does not phase me how many times you follow me, you could do it on the hour and it...

Being proud of this generation

Image
I can be a pretty emotional person when it comes to TV shows and movies. However, at the moment there's one advert  that really gets to me and I well up every time for a totally inexplicable reason. Every time it comes on YouTube I actually refuse to skip it. I get goose bumps, my chest goes all tight and I become overcome with a weird  emotion that I can't quite place. Here's the advert I'm talking about:             Weird, right?! I can't help it though! There's just something about it, from the choice of song to the clips included, I just get so emotional! I think it all actually boils down to one thing though, and that's pride. I have a huge sense of pride when I watch this video because I know I've helped to make these moments happen, I've shared them, retweeted them, watched them, laughed at them. I've used the hashtags to help find the dancing man, I've welled up over the Obama's dancing, I used the hashtag to show supp...

Internet creepin'

Image
We're all guilty of it. You know what I'm talking about. Stalking.  Yup. Be it your ex partner, someone you despise but still care desperately about what they're doing or someone you fancy the pants off but don't have the balls to confess to, there's probably someone in your life you have a Internet creepin' relationship with. But the real question here isn't who the person is but rather why  do we have a person/people like this in our lives at all? Why do we feel the need to follow people's lives without actually pressing that follow button? It's damn weird! Imagine if this was real life...if you followed said victim in real life as much as you click on their name in the online world, you'd probably have a restraining order. Half the world would. Its bizarre that we care so much about what people are doing, yet not enough to click that follow button. It could be for a number of reasons; you don't like them but for some reason c...

#TypeOfPeopleIAvoid

Image
Today on Twitter the latest trend throwing out some pretty humorous tweets was "#TypeOfPeopleIAvoid". This inspired me for today's post, and I thought I'd make use of being able to use more than 140 characters and share with you the type of people I avoid!  1) Negative people. Whilst I do like a good whine now and again, I am a pretty positive person. I believe in myself, in all the things I do and things I am capable of doing in future and so on. So I can't stand  being around people who are constantly negative about everything, be it about themselves, about other people or about something else entirely. Life is too short to be so miserable all the time!  2) Anti-feminists. If you don't believe in feminism, if you slag it off or act misogynistic or in a similar manner, I will not be spending my time with you. Feminism is a very real thing that is still desperately needed every single day. If you think otherwise, remove yourself from m...

Going in One Direction towards insanity.

#cutforzayn ... arguably the most ridiculous hashtag to ever have trended on Twitter, alongside the #cutforbieber that came a few years before now. Let's just take a look at the facts, and at what has caused so much distress that a worldwide fandom feels the need to self harm. What has happened - Zayn Malik left One Direction due to stress and wanting to live a normal life without being under the spotlight. What hasn't happened - Zayn has not died. - One Direction have not broken up- they are continuing as a quartet. - The world tour has not been cancelled, One Direction will continue to perform as a quartet. - The world has not ended. Take some time to go over those facts in your head, and evaluate them how you will. I'm sure you only need about 2.4 seconds to realise that, ultimately, nothing too terrible has happened and that there is definitely  nothing to be self harming over. Now, I'm fully prepared for the hate I will receive for writing what som...
