The final words to my ex.

Image
Today's blog post is late, I know, but that's because it's been very hard for me to write.  This is going to be the last time I write about my ex boyfriend and my previous relationship. Effectively, I am giving it all a final goodbye.  Of course  I know my relationship ended on New Year's Eve. Unofficially, it probably ended long before then. I haven't seen my ex since 27th of December, since last year, which is a really weird thought. And whilst I had accepted it was over, I had a teeny tiny part of me that still loved him and hoped we would get back together.  I had deleted him from all social media except facebook, boxed up all of my things from him and taken down all of the photos. I got a new phone (by coincidental timing) and did not keep his number, nor did I send him my new one. But I kept him on facebook so we had some way of getting in touch should we need to talk about anything (getting back together).  And then I was told he wa...

Valentine's Day!

Image
It's St. Valentine's Day today- the holiday of true lurrrve!  As I'm sure most of you will be aware, currently I am single, and this is my first Valentine's Day alone. Whilst I should have been on holiday in Bruges with someone I thought was my soul mate, I instead was at work and with my family, doing nothing romantic at all. But has it been sad? Absolutely not. Instead of celebrating Valentine's on just one day, my friends have allowed me to celebrate for the whole  weekend- something I never would have done with my previous partner, who slept more than he was awake. Yesterday, I met my best girl friend Bobbie in London for a lunch date and she surprised me with a bag full of gifts to make me smile as it was my "first valentine's without presents". In the evening, I went to the cinema with my two best boy friends, James and Alec. Today I was at work with my lovely work girls and then this evening I'm spending it having a meal with ...

#InternetFriendDay

Image
Today is #InternetFriendDay and this is a day that means a lot to me! I have built a career on the internet and through that I have made the most wonderful friends because of it. This is a concept that can be a little hard for people to get their heads around. As children we are told over and over not to share personal details over the internet, not to speak to people we don't know for fear that they may not be who they say they are.  And hey, I guess there is still that risk. Of course there is. You can be anyone you want to be on the internet. However, it's not all bad news any more. Now that there is a growth in online activities such as blogging and vlogging, strangers from all over the world can connect via the mere touch of a button and friendships are formed.  Whilst many still envision a creepy old man sat in a dark room befriending naive individuals across the internet, this is not the only kind of person socialising across the internet now- almos...

YOU vs. YOU

Image
They say your biggest competition is yourself. You vs. You.  I would have to agree with this. I am my biggest competition. If I do something more than once, I hope- and expect- to get better at it each time I do it, regardless of how long I've already been trying it or how long it's supposed to take to get better, or even if you can get better!  A perfect example of this is my running. I have now been for three runs since the start of the month and am already forcing myself to be better than I was on the previous run. When I first started, I stopped at every other lamp post. On my second run, I stopped about 10 times. Yesterday, on my third run, I stopped twice. I know you're supposed to pace yourself with physical exercise but I can't help it. I want to be better every single time.  It's the same with my writing, my blogging, my freelancing. I want to create better content than last time, make more money than last time, have more views than last ...

What I'm grateful for

Image
This week didn't just see in pancake day (yum) but also the beginning of Lent. Every year I say to myself that I will give up one thing or another for Lent, and every year, I never do. This year was no different. I had actually thought about it this year! But then I realised Lent had started and I'd still been eating chocolate and binge watching bad TV and being negative so what was left to give up?! I've read a few blog posts and tweets about what people are giving up in order to improve their lives and remind themselves how grateful they are to have this thing that they are sacrificing and so on and so forth and I thought "aha- gratitude!"  Gratitude is something I can do. So this post is about what I am most grateful for, right now. My best friends. Seeing as I spent the early hours of the start of Lent with them on one of the best nights of my 2016 so far, how could I not be grateful for them? Alec, BJ and Ricarda are almost like add...

Most emotional film scenes of all time

Image
So, I've just finished bawling my eyes out at the very emotional scene in Toy Story 3 (which one? There's so many!) and thought hey  I don't want to be crying alone! So I thought I'd share with you the most emotional film scenes of all time! 1) Toy Story 3- The furnace scene.  Need I say more? Toys holding hands for the final time faced with the prospect of death... it's heartbreaking, truly. 2) Toy Story 3- The closing scene. The heartbreak of Andy leaving his life long companions behind is so emotional it brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it. I feel as though they're my toys! 3) Forrest Gump- The bullies. Another film with countless heartbreaking scenes but nothing kills me more than seeing Forrest being attacked by rocks . Kids are so mean! Other emotional scenes include him getting his leg brace stuck in a drain pipe, Jenny leaving him in the middle of the night and *Sob* no one wanting to sit next to him on the bus...

Foxes, noodles and BJ's Foreskin: The woes of Wybrow

Image
Sorry that it's seven minutes to midnight as I write this- I've been having, and still am having- a delightful evening with my best pals. To celebrate Pancake Day, my friends came over for pancakes and a games night which has turned out to be totally hilarious. We also had a noodle nation take away that I have been looking forward to for days so this was massively enjoyed and a huge treat for me after my healthy eating regime from the last few weeks.  I had a great moment of spontaneity too, purchasing a ticket to a Foxes gig on a spur of the moment whim thanks to my friends- so now we have a gig to look forward to in less than a months time!  The greatest laugh of the evening was my best pal BJ, who just turned 20, asking if he had a foreskin and what one looked like.  Answer?  Yes. He does.  It's great that after 20 years of living, he has finally made this discovery. I am so proud of him.  Anyway, sorry for the rubbishy b...
