9 Signs A Guy Is A Fuckboy

Image
There's absolutely no denying that when I came out of an almost-6-year relationship the concept of fuckboys was definitely a new one. When I was 14 (the last time I was single!), 'fuckboys' just weren't a thing- or, at least not as much of a thing as they are now. Suddenly, I was thrown right into the deep end because everything had changed. You didn't just like someone and become boyfriend and girlfriend; suddenly there was a difference between 'talking', 'seeing someone', 'dating' and then being 'in a relationship'.  To be honest, I hate it. But not as much as I hate fuckboys. I'm now well   aware of how to tell if someone is a fuckboy or not, thanks to the guidance of my girlfriends and it has started saving me a lotta lotta time . If you're still as baffled as I was this time last year, let me share with you some of the signs of a Grade A fuckboy... All about the snaps If he only ever snaps you, he's a fuckboy...

I'd Love You But I Need Another Year Alone

Image
Yesterday was Valentine's Day, a public holiday that people seem to have a bit of a love-hate relationship with. Me? I love Valentine's Day! I love all of the cute trinkets, homeware and gifts that come out and have no qualms purchasing too much of it for myself, regardless of whether I do or don't have a boyfriend to share the day with. I actually blogged about  why Valentine's  doesn't  suck for single people  last year because I was so sick of seeing all of the single people bitch about the holiday, particularly when you know that most of them would think otherwise if they were in a relationship. I feel much the same this year, of course. It's my second year of being single on Valentine's Day and I honestly couldn't give less of a fuck because I  still  love the day, I  still  love buying cute bits like heart shaped candles for myself and I  still  had a lovely day. My sister and I swapped gifts for each other, spent the day in London...

7 Things Boys Do That Irritate Single Girls

Image
If 2016 has taught me anything, it's that boys are fucking annoying. Here're some of the most annoying things boys do.  Reply to messages days later You know when you think you've got a good thing going with someone and then it turns out you're totally  wrong? You've got some good banter, the conversation is flowing back and forth with ease and then suddenly they stop replying and hit you with a message three days later saying "Sorry I forgot to reply!". You forgot about me for three days? Alright then, boy bye!  Make every conversation about sex I mean, God forbid I might actually want to have a conversation with you not  about a physical relationship we may or may not have. Let me just talk about Made in Chelsea please!  Ignore your messages And then claim they haven't been on whatsapp/snapchat/facebook all day, yet their "last seen" time tells you otherwise. Sure, okay pal, whatever you say! Don't waste our...

Being by myself

Image
Today I published a post on my magazine's website by one of my writers, all about women who are criticised for not wanting to have children and get married. It was a really good article and is definitely something I've seen happen to people I know- although not me personally because I'm all about having an OTT wedding and having babies because I love 'em, but that's beside the point. The point was, women shouldn't be criticised for not doing what society tells them they should  be doing.   It's basically the same as what I've been going through for the past eleven months, being single. While my best pals have been all for the new independent Flo smashing her career goals and being generally fab (look, they say it, not me), other people aren't so understanding. I'm almost continuously hit with things like  "You mean you're not dating yet?" "You want to get out there whilst you're still young!" ...

I don't owe you.

Image
Since becoming single and starting to meet new people- more like, new boys- using apps such as Tinder and meeting guys on night's out, I've noticed a lot of men ("not all men" of course) have one thing in common.  They feel like women owe them something.  I've noticed it particularly in night clubs, but just generally, men feel like women owe them a lot of something for a lot of nothing. They want x in exchange for y- more often than not they want sex in exchange for a £1.50 vodka and coke at happy hour. If you're a woman and that floats your boat then go girl, you do you! But I know a lot of women who are approached by men with this mind set and let me tell you, they aren't happy about it.  I've been approached by men who feel like I owe them something. Let me tell you, the ending of those stories isn't pretty. I have no shame, no embarrassment, a sharp tongue and a short temper. Wind me up and you'll be on the receiving...

Status: In a relationship

Image
Sorry, guys. That is a totally  click bait title. However, it's not exactly untrue. I really am in a relationship. The best kind of relationship, one that is constantly evolving, growing more and more fabulous by the day...I am in a relationship with myself.  Okay, okay, I know that sounds totally weird, but that's the only way I can think to describe it! For the majority of this year, I've been on a journey of self discovery (how cliche). I've been learning about what I'm capable of, what I like doing, what I don't want to do, who is worth my time and who isn't. It's been very much like getting to know someone at the start of a relationship, see what I mean? (I'm not totally crazy).  Honestly though, I was talking about this with my friend Alex the other day, and I realised I genuinely don't have time for a relationship right now. I am so busy working on myself (for myself, by myself) as well as holding down six  jobs, trying ...

How being single changed me

Image
When you're single, you're one person. In a relationship, you change. And after a relationship, you change again.  To be honest, the idea of 'you' is a very fluid concept, because you can literally change at any point in your life- it's totally up to you!  I definitely changed in a relationship, and now that I'm out of one, I've changed again. I've noticed, my friends have noticed and my family have noticed. So, how has being single changed me exactly? (Spoiler alert- it's another gif filled list coming your way! ) 1) My confidence improved.  I don't know how or why this happened, but it just did. I guess, maybe, I didn't want to do things in case I let down my partner or embarrassed them? I don't know. Either way, my confidence has increased massively since I became single and I love  it.  2) My self-love increased. I had always been so down about myself, about my weight, my looks, my personal style and...

What stops me swiping right

Image
Since becoming single in 2016, I have had a bit of a love/hate relationship with the dating app Tinder. Initially, my friend Charlie from work suggested that I join for a bit of a laugh and yes, initially it did cheer me up, reading crazily weird bios and looking at very unfortunately angled pictures that people seem to feel best represented them. I did still take it semi-seriously though, being asked on a few dates that all fell through after I made it clear that I wasn't going to sleep with them on this first "date". Lol. One guy even unmatched with me after I declined his  invitation to come to my  house- that's right, he invited himself over! After politely declining, he unmatched and I have heard nothing since. Anyway. There have been so many hilarious moment's with this dating app that I thought I'd make (another) list using (more) gifs for your guys pleasure, all about what stops me from swiping right on Tinder! Topless photos. If your main pic...

Valentine's Day!

Image
It's St. Valentine's Day today- the holiday of true lurrrve!  As I'm sure most of you will be aware, currently I am single, and this is my first Valentine's Day alone. Whilst I should have been on holiday in Bruges with someone I thought was my soul mate, I instead was at work and with my family, doing nothing romantic at all. But has it been sad? Absolutely not. Instead of celebrating Valentine's on just one day, my friends have allowed me to celebrate for the whole  weekend- something I never would have done with my previous partner, who slept more than he was awake. Yesterday, I met my best girl friend Bobbie in London for a lunch date and she surprised me with a bag full of gifts to make me smile as it was my "first valentine's without presents". In the evening, I went to the cinema with my two best boy friends, James and Alec. Today I was at work with my lovely work girls and then this evening I'm spending it having a meal with ...

The 9 stages of a break up

Image
Going through a break up is never  easy for anyone! Yet somehow, all break ups are the same- the feelings are the same, the actions we do are the same and so no matter how unique you feel your problems and situation to be, believe me, they aren't. Here are the 9 stages of a break up.  1) Heartbreak. Of course it feels like your world is ending, your heart is breaking and your life will never be the same. You can't stop crying, you can't eat or sleep and it's literally (what feels like) the worst time of your life. 2) Anger. Regardless of who ended things with who, you feel angry. Angry with the situation, who did what and words that were said. They should have tried harder, you should have tried harder- why didn't the pair of you try harder? Why aren't they calling you back? Why aren't they fighting for you? Angry questions buzz about like vicious bee's in our brains and things feel pretty ugly.    3) Regret. You should  ha...

6 reasons Valentine's day DOESN'T suck for single people!

Image
It's now officially less than one month until the big day...you know the one. Valentine's Day. It will be my first Valentine's Day as a single lady in a whopping six years. However, I've found that I'm not actually dreading it all that much. Whilst me and my previous partner did observe the day with presents and cards, we never really did anything special, just stayed in, only going out for dinner to celebrate for the first time in five years last year! So I don't feel as though I will be missing out on too much this year. There's also a lot of other reason's that I don't think Valentine's Day sucks for single people and I thought I'd share them with my current singletons to make any people who feel a bit blue get right in the pink again!  1) You're always alone. Let's be frank now. If you're alone all the other days of the year, Valentine's Day is no different! People buy each other presents and cards and post cu...
