A phrase that is well overused on the fifth day of the week, every week. Thank God it's Friday. At last. 

Unless you work in retail, right? I know, I know. I've seen all of the meme's and the jokes. However, I work in retail and am fortunate enough to only work weekdays, with the occasional day at the weekend for some overtime. So let's just assume that you all have the weekend off like me, okay? Or that you at least have a weekend off sometime soon so that on the Friday before you too can utter the words "Thank God it's Friday". And why are we thanking God? I'll tell you why. With a gif filled list of course. Because we all love gifs. And Fridays. 

So why does Friday absolutely rock?

It means the weekend is here. No more work! Two days to ourselves to do whatever the hell we want. Shopping, sleeping, binging on Netflix. The possibilities are endless.

Everyone is in a good mood. Because it's Friday. Which means the weekend. Which means no work...see where I'm going with this?

Friday rhymes with wine. And alcohol. Kind of. Not really. But Friday means you can get your drink on and go crazy because you have 0 responsibilities tomorrow!

Your social life creeps back into existence. After being locked in at work all week with a bed time of 9pm in order to face that 6:30am wake up call, on Friday you are released back into the wild, ready to hit the town with your buddies. Or the local pub. Or just their sofa instead of yours with a big ol' Dominos. Who cares, you're having fun.

No alarms. That's right, you can turn off that stupidly early alarm for a couple of days and have some much needed lie ins! A great way to waste your days off- by sleeping.

You can scream 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)' by Katy Perry at the top of your lungs. And nobody can say a damn thing because it is Friday and we are thanking God for it. Thank you, Lord!

Children With Cancer UK Fashion Show!

Friday 27th February 2015 saw the grand event that was a fashion show in London for the fabulous charity, Children with Cancer UK. I was invited to the event about 2 weeks ago as a blogger, to cover the event and raise awareness of the charity. I was honored to have been asked to do so, as the charity is really just so important, as well as super excited to cover a fashion show, as this was something I had never done before! The night was a huge success, and the display of talent was extremely impressive- from the designers work, to the various acts performing in between! The venue was fairly glamorous, based at The Building Centre in London, and upon entry we received glasses of wine, nibbles and goody bags, as well as having the opportunity to mingle with some of the other guests before the show began. This week (13th - 20th May 2019) is Mental Health Awareness Week. This year, the theme is Body Image - how we think and feel about our bodies.  Those of you who have followed me for some time will know that for about two years now, if not more, I have been an advocate for body positivity and self love. More recently, you may have seen me featured in a story in The Metro , talking about a body shaming incident I experienced on holiday and how I dealt with it.  There's absolutely no denying that there is a direct correlation between body image and our mental health. I know that personally, when I'm experiencing a "bad body day" and don't feel very positively about my body, for whatever reason, my mental health goes down the drain too. Yet when we feel good about our bodies, this can be reflected in our mental health too.  When I experienced body shaming in my bikini on holiday, I felt the lowest I had in a while. Eating Disorders- the Blunt Truth.

WARNING:  The following content is sensitive and me be triggering to those suffering from, recovering from or who have recovered from eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia and other health problems such as depression. As I sit down in my local pub ready to tuck into my generous portion of gammon and chips, I feel a prickle on the back of my neck- that all to familiar feeling of knowing that someone is staring at you. As I whip my head around the dining area, my eyes fall on the slender figure of a girl, probably around my age, maybe a few years younger, looking at me with disgust in her eyes- disgust clearly at the way I look and what I'm eating. I feel fat, bulky, uncomfortable and I let my glance fall to her own plate, noticing she has a salad, mostly untouched. She sips constantly at her water like it's the only thing keeping her alive.
